Rex Stax brings a background in hip-hop and Caribbean music to Afro house, building tracks around percussion, voices and the meeting of different musical traditions. Previously known as Mr. E, he began DJing as a teenager and developed the We Run This compilation series through collaborations with American rap artists. Moving to the Caribbean changed the direction of his productions, with Eternity Collide marking an important stage in that transition. His later work with singers including Idd Aziz, Stevo Atambire and Lizwi puts vocal collaboration at the centre of his house music. In a firsthand interview, he described time spent around Hatta in the United Arab Emirates as an inspiration for exploring Arabic instruments and melodies. Alongside international DJ appearances, he has organized events on Kenya's Diani Beach, bringing his interest in musical exchange into the live setting.
