Steel Grooves is Rex Bruton's principal techno identity, shaped by Austin's mid-1990s raves and an earlier attachment to heavy music. He began playing guitar at ten, moving from metal toward industrial acts such as Ministry and Front Line Assembly before discovering techno.
Capital Techno grew from a DJ crew into his label, with its name inspired by Austin's Capital Metro transport system. Bruton has also worked as Single Cell and in the collaborative projects Subforce and Groove Mekanics. His Steel Grooves releases through Capital Techno and Urban Kickz keep rhythm and physical impact at the centre of that wider production history.
