About Submorphics

Bio

Submorphics makes soulful drum and bass informed by the hip-hop, house and techno of the American Midwest. Greg Axelrad's connections to Detroit and Chicago continue to shape his music from his current base in The Hague. Releases through Shogun Audio, Hospital and V Recordings preceded a sustained relationship with The North Quarter. Nostalgia is a creative starting point in projects such as Verona Highway, which imagined a late-night journey between Detroit and Chicago. Detroit Haze and Kodak Dreams offer other extended views of that melodic approach. His own Rosebay Music provides a further outlet, alongside collaborations with artists including Lenzman and Zar.
