Magnetude

Bio

Cinematic storytelling is central to Magnetude, the drum & bass partnership of Rustam Mansurov and James Peacock. Their arrangements bring orchestral detail, melodic development and dramatic changes of intensity into neurofunk, drawing on musical backgrounds in piano and violin. The two met online in 2010 and developed their connection through Close 2 Death, where Peacock worked in A&R and Mansurov released music. They began producing together in 2015, introducing Magnetude with the Hyperdrive EP on Lifted Music the following year. Releases on RAM, Eatbrain and Renegade Hardware established a catalogue that balances intricate composition with dancefloor impact. Alongside Task Horizon and Receptor, they co-founded Evolution Chamber as a shared platform for artists with differing approaches to bass music. Their process can be painstaking: Muleta, shaped by Spanish and Mexican musical influences, went through several substantially different versions over roughly two and a half years. Rather than treating a track as a fixed formula, they revisit its melody, arrangement and emotional direction until the underlying story feels complete.
