Bio

Blackout JA carries Jamaican sound-system culture into reggae, dancehall and jungle. His musical upbringing stretched from his mother's church choir to his father's Universe sound system in Portland and a grandfather who played saxophone. Moving to Kingston brought studio work with producers including Sly & Robbie; a later move to England connected that background with another generation of bass music. His performances have included Sting, Reggae Sunsplash and Notting Hill Carnival, while collaborations with jungle producers bring his vocal style into faster settings. With Liondub, he also formed Blacklion Movements, drawing together musicians and vocalists across Jamaica, Britain and the United States for the Love Dancehall project.
