Bio

skantia emerged from Newcastle's drum-and-bass community, progressing from selling tickets for the Dilate parties to playing as a resident and producing his own records. Andy C's support helped bring tracks such as Cluster to a wider audience, leading to a recording relationship with RAM and collaborations with Annix, Turno and Bladerunner. His music moves between jump-up, rollers and deeper drum and bass, with an interest in structures that avoid the obvious route. The debut album Common Ground brought those strands together. Much of it was made on a laptop and speakers at his mother's home before TeeBee invited him to work on the material in Norway. The title also nodded to an earlier track by Heist, one of the producers who first encouraged him. Releases through skant.net and work with Simula on Dance Macabre have since given him further outlets for that restless approach.
