Bio

Truncate began as a set of private tools. Los Angeles producer David Flores was already established as Audio Injection when, in 2011, he started stripping tracks down for his own DJ sets and friends. He did not expect the alias to travel far; the blunt, functional records were simply built to be mixed. Their reception turned the experiment into a central project, one defined by compact arrangements, hard-edged drums and small changes that carry unusual weight on a sound system. Flores, who grew up in Los Angeles in a Mexican-American family, has kept the project close to the city’s techno lineage while releasing and collaborating internationally. What distinguishes the work is not decoration but discipline: every element earns its space, and the track’s identity often rests on how a few sounds are cut, repeated and pressured.
