About The Clamps

Bio

The Clamps is Toulouse-based producer and DJ Julien Carbou, whose drum and bass draws much of its force from industrial music. He began exploring electronic production in the late 1990s, moving through hard techno, breaks and progressive trance before developing the dense bass work and intricate sound design associated with this project. His relationship with Kosen Production has provided a continuing home for experiments and collaborations, alongside releases for Trendkill and Eatbrain. Industrial hardcore is a parallel pursuit, represented by work with Karnage, Heresy and PRSPCT. Carbou treats the two strands as mutually useful sources of ideas rather than separate creative worlds. He also works with Opsen as Burr Oak and with Deerhill as Third Colony, allowing collaborative projects to explore different tempos and moods. His DJ performances take that breadth of experience to clubs and festivals internationally.
