Bio
Yanamaste brings a background in piano, percussion and Georgian folk performance to techno. As a child, he spent eight years in a national dance ensemble, encountering instruments and musical structures that remain part of his imagination as a producer. He has linked that education to the long melodic lines and sequences in his electronic work.
His relationship with Tbilisi's KHIDI, where he has held a residency, and his connection to Amsterdam's Vault Sessions place him within two active techno communities. The live set is an important part of that identity: material later released on the Evil EP for Mutual Rytm had already been developed in performances including Boiler Room and Stone Techno Festival.
For Yanamaste, those performances are also part of the writing process. Played rhythm and melody feed the studio, while the dancefloor gives the resulting ideas a setting in which to develop. It is a musical route into techno that reaches well beyond the club itself.
