About Tanukichi

Bio

Tanukichi connects Japanese and European rave culture through hardtek, tekno and drum and bass. A formative Teknival experience in Japan led him towards Europe's free-party scene, and the Japanese DJ and producer later made Prague his base. His music is built for large sound systems, with forceful kicks and bass carrying the energy between those different communities. The album Samurai Speed Beats brought in Japanese collaborators including Dustvoxx, Loctek and M-Project. More recently, Higher with Mandidextrous on RAM marked a sustained move into drum and bass, adding another framework for the intensity of his hardtek background. His live history takes in Boomtown, Glastonbury, Fuji Rock and Defqon.1, while releases through Night On Earth and Undergroundtekno maintain the connection to his earlier scene. Sample collections also allow other producers to work with some of the sounds behind the records.
