About Acid Lab

Bio

Acid Lab is a studio-focused drum-and-bass project from southern Germany. Daniel Schwerdel draws on the late-1990s sounds of Certificate 18, Metalheadz and Virus, making room for both melody and darker textures within restrained arrangements. His Ahmad and Kodama aliases offer related routes through broken rhythms, without all of their releases belonging to the Acid Lab catalogue. Work for Omni, Repertoire, Dope Plates and AGN7 Audio ranges from jungle-oriented records to more spacious material. The album A Matter of Time expands that range, while Listen / Lights Down Low explores half-time and slower broken rhythms. Production, rather than a parallel DJ career, is the centre of the project, with close attention to the space around its sounds.
