Bio
Paul SG brings a musician's background to the jazz-inflected side of drum and bass. Before becoming a producer and founding Jazzsticks, he played drums in rock, funk, blues and gospel bands and percussion in a classical orchestra. Based in Vienna, he has carried that breadth into a body of work closely connected with LTJ Bukem and Good Looking, including a past residency for Bukem at London's fabric.
Jazzsticks gives his musical outlook a home of its own. His debut album This Is Me brought in voices including T.R.A.C. and Conrad, while releases on Liquid V, Innerground and Shogun Audio extend his connections beyond the label. His collaborations with DJ Marky offer another glimpse of the process: two producers exchanging samples and ideas, with Paul drawing on a long affection for Blue Note records and Miles Davis. The drummer, record collector and studio collaborator are all present in his approach to drum and bass.
