Maksim Dark builds minimal techno around deep bass movement, dark atmosphere and tightly focused rhythms. His live performances use his own productions, making the stage an extension of a studio practice that began in his teens in Serov, Russia. Early recognition from Richie Hawtin and Dubfire preceded a sustained relationship with labels including SCI+TEC, Oliver Huntemann’s Senso Sounds and Jannowitz. Albums are an important part of that output, from “Insomnia” to “Underpulse,” alongside the shorter club tracks that populate his live sets. His own recordings of appearances such as Mehanika Festival show that performing remains central to the project. Rather than separating record-making from touring, Maksim develops a personal repertoire that he brings directly to a crowd.
