Bio

D.A.V.E. The Drummer came out of London's 1990s warehouse-party scene, where techno circulated through sound systems, independent labels and nights outside the conventional club circuit. As Henry Cullen, he became closely involved with the Stay Up Forever Collective, producing for Stay Up Forever, Cluster and Routemaster and helping shape the recording life of British acid techno. His own Hydraulix label, founded in 1998, gave him room to move beyond that early sound. It connects acid's drive with darker, more stripped-back techno and has become a platform for other producers as well as his own work. Apex and Mutate To Survive offer further space for different production ideas. Cullen's DJ and live performances have taken him to parties across Europe and to Brazil, Japan, Australia and South Africa. He has remained willing to reconsider his music's tempo and density, describing a move towards greater space and clarity without sacrificing physical impact. Decades after the warehouse beginnings, independent releasing and active studio work remain central to his career.
