Alan Fitzpatrick’s techno education includes Southampton raves reached through holes under railway arches, long before the festival stages and label showcases. A pivotal 2006 booking at his hometown’s Rhino Club put him alongside the local artists who shaped his direction; Fitzpatrick later said the residency sharpened his sound and prompted him to start the 8 Sided Dice label. His subsequent run with Drumcode carried that direct, physical approach to a wider audience, while We Are The Brave expanded his work beyond releases into events, visual art and clothing. The label’s name reflects his appetite for taking creative risks, but his productions remain grounded in club function: strong rhythmic pressure, hooks that arrive without clutter and room for rave-era colour.
