Aloka’s music grew out of a small Welsh town where a lack of clubs meant making your own parties. That resourceful, close-knit setting helped shape a project that moves between electro, breaks, techno and bass music without settling into a single category. What began as one of several production experiments developed into a full-time musical pursuit, with a distinctly UK rhythmic character running through it.
His Typeless Records imprint extends those interests to other artists, starting from electro and gradually opening towards heavier, more experimental club sounds. As a DJ, Aloka brings the same breadth to performances for Boiler Room and Keep Hush, while releases for Haws and Steel City Dance Discs sit alongside self-released music. He has described staying close to the music he enjoys as the guiding principle for both his productions and the label.
