TheClaw

TheClaw, a Canadian funk house duo from Quebec City, is excited to announce the release of their debut single "Hold It Down" on Solardish Records. Composed of former high school jazz bandmates Nicolas and Xavier, TheClaw has quickly become a rising force in the house music scene, bringing a fresh and groovy sound that blends elements of funk, blues, and soul. "Hold It Down" is more than just a track; it’s a piece of TheClaw’s history. The song is the first full-length track the duo produced together, with early versions dating back to 2021, even before TheClaw was officially formed. During the pandemic, Nicolas and Xavier, who had been living in different cities after graduation, began experimenting with sounds purely for fun using their DAW. What started as a casual jam session between two friends evolved into a defining moment for the duo, laying the foundation for their signature sound. "We were just experimenting and having fun, but "Hold It Down" ended up being the track that truly defined us as artists," says Nicolas. "It’s a funky, groovy tune with a touch of soul, and it carries a message that everyone can relate to – everyone needs someone to hold it down in their life. After spending five years apart in different cities, Nicolas and Xavier regrouped in their hometown of Quebec City in 2023, determined to rekindle their musical partnership. Drawing inspiration from their days in cover bands, where they paid homage to the likes of Jimi Hendrix and John Mayer, the duo began working on TheClaw project. Their shared love for jazz, funk, and blues naturally led them to explore a unique tonality of house music that is as nostalgic as it is innovative. TheClaw’s hard work and creative synergy quickly paid off. In early 2024, they released their debut EP, Freaks, which garnered attention for its fresh take on the funk house genre. Now, with "Hold It Down" as their debut release on Solardish Records, TheClaw is poised to make an even bigger impact on the electronic music scene.
