Soul Candi started out as a record shop in vinyl DJing’s heyday, and it was where like-minded DJs from across the country would converge to hear and buy the latest, tastiest house tracks. The store became a focal point for house proponents of the caliber of DJ Fresh, Oskido, Euphonik and many more. But despite the presence of these big personalities, everyone was welcome, and the beats were a treat. As house music became THE sound of South Africa, the business grew and Soul Candi started making the most popular tunes available to everybody via their range of cool compilation CDs. Now the nation could own what the best DJs were playing on the airwaves and in the clubs. Now Soul Candi has a new mission statement: it’s been re-coded as an all-encompassing media house – which ironically takes the company back to its roots: sharing the best house music the world has to offer.

Approaching its 20th year, Anjunadeep has become “one of dance music’s ultimate tastemaker labels” (Billboard). Known for breaking global artists like Ben Böhmer, Lane 8, Tinlicker and Dusky, the label has a reputation as “an A&R hotbed” (Resident Advisor).

Now, the label launches its new imprint titled ‘Anjunadeep Explorations’ this July. ’The ‘Explorations’ imprint is an evolution of the much-loved Various Artist EP series of the same name, which spanned 25 editions between 2016-2023 on Anjunadeep. Responsible for bringing through now-mainstay acts to the label such as Ben Böhmer, CRi, Luttrell, Rezident and Simon Doty, the series has also featured underground talents like Theo Kottis, Sam Goku and Gacha Bakradze. The label will focus on unearthing the next generation of electronic music talent, as well as introducing established acts to the Anjuna roster.

The label’s first release is an exclusive 12” sampler, comprising six tracks from artists signed to the label including Chris Luno, Klur and Marley Carroll, with individual digital releases to follow. The vinyl is a limited run of hand-stamped white label vinyl.
